The Favor of God - Do you really need it? | Arpana Sharon Blog

Updated: Oct 14, 2021

When the Titanic was launched, one third of Belfast’s population came to watch & support it. Some of the passengers aboard were notable multi-millionaires, one even paid thousands of dollars extra for the last lunch menu. The hype for the ship was so great that an employee of the White Star Line was heard saying, “Not even God Himself could sink this ship.”

Today a specific iron eating bacteria called Halomonas Titanicae is gradually destroying the ruins of the ship that lies 4 kilometers under water. The bacteria will eventually wipe out every remaining part of the ship.

In fact, a fire which had broke out even before the journey began caused the ship to sink faster.

What does all of this say? We may have thousands of people favoring us, but without God’s favor, all our hope is over. The journey is over even before it begins.

The enemy waits for the day he can gloat over your transition from 'smooth sailing' to 'total shipwreck.' You boldly marching towards that hopeless end with a million people by your side does not change the end for you!

Let go of the chariots & horses you are counting on. Even if they are your own skills, abilities, achievements, wealth, supporters, followers, awards, and rewards. None of that completely validates God’s favor upon your life.

Even if you had nothing, yet the favor of God is upon you, you’re the true success story.

David realises this truth, but faces enemies laughing at him. He writes a prayer of brokenness in Psalm 86. “Show me a sign of Your favor, that those who hate me may see and be ashamed because You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.”

If you’re in a similar place, pray. You know what to ask for this time. Not success, not victory, not fame, not money… just God’s favor. That’s all you need. Seek Him first, and …you know the rest.
